One of my favorite parts about my position at Children's Hospital Colorado is getting to art direction photoshoots. It is inspiring and affirming to interact with the patients and providers and tell their stories. My art direction includes detailed briefs prior to the shoot and real time direction and adjustments to the photographer and the subjects as I review the photos on an iPad.

Patient stories

I love directing children and I was fortunate to make these cuties below smile from behind the camera and help tell their stories. Many of these photos appear on the Children's Colorado website and it various print marketing materials. 

Prescription Pets

The Prescription Pet Program brings generous volunteers and their dogs to visit patients at Children’s Hospital Colorado. As the first of its kind in the nation, the program has brought joy to countless patients and their families through hundreds of social visits each year. These photos capture just a few of the many sweet pups and are used on the website and social media to promote the program and recruit more volunteers. This was the first time I got to direct children and dogs - luckily the dogs were very well behaved!

Research and Innovation

These photos are examples research and innovation focused imagery for a referring provider audience. These are often creative challenges to capture and object or machine in an engaging way. These photos are used in print materials, the website and email marketing to healthcare professionals.

Patient and doctor interactions

The Children's Colorado brand message, Here, it's different is well exemplified in these photos of patient and provider interactions. These photos help convey that the providers are not only experts in pediatrics but also experts in connecting with children. My aim in each photoshoot to show the providers focused on the child and at their eye level. These photos are used in all kinds of marketing materials including parent resources, the website and service line marketing collateral.
