Circles of Abundance

Circles of Abundance Zine/Artist Book

Goal
To cultivate a daily practice that reframes abundance as a form of joy and resistance—and to invite others into that practice through collective making, reflection, and design.

Concept
This project centers on a simple daily prompt:
Where do I find abundance today?
Over 66 days, I responded through visual exploration—photography, drawing, and collected ephemera—each framed in a circle. The circle became a way of seeing: a viewfinder for moments of beauty, generosity, and enoughness.
Rooted in joy research and activist traditions, this project resists the scarcity mindset often imposed by systems of oppression. It draws on design as a tool for reflection and empowerment, culminating in a zine that documents the practice and extends the invitation to others.
The work takes shape as a zine or artists’ book—a form that itself embodies abundance. Zines have long been used for resistance, for sharing ideas freely, outside of systems of control. This one is meant to circulate, to spark reflection, and to invite action.

Picture
“Joy is a manifestation of abundance. The language of oppression is one of scarcity and fear, and the activist’s goal must be to remind those who have been convinced that progress is a losing game for them that there is in fact enough to go around.”
Ingrid Fetell Lee, designer, joy research and author
